Barriers within the workplace: Solution? Let's elevate ourselves!

Hello again! Readers and or friends!

Well Well..We meet again! I'dont know what got into me and my devotion to this blog and to the minimal readers who read it..Again ,I thank you! This blog is devoted to the many people who enjoy reading and maybe believing that words have power and meaning ..Words do have power if you act on the advice that is suggested..If you know everything ...then congratulations! You have been spiritually promoted to Master of the Universe and don't need people or anyone else to steer you in the right direction!!!!
My My Mr. Verifiedbeliever aren't you sarcastic today! Well it's true that when the student is ready the teacher will appear..or ..here's another one ..Build it and they will come! Why bother saying these axioms anyway? Well there could be the odd person who never heard of these truths..and think it's awesome to apply these axioms into their lives..You see, there are many people who heard of them and just shrug their shoulders and put these ideas under their mental back burner and as weeks turn to months and then years they finally realize that time slips by and what people have said to them in the past keeps pounding into their heads and before you know it you begin to recite another life axiom called...I woulda shoulda coulda lololol....Such is life huh????

Anyway..back to what my entry is all about today...If you are a supervisor at your work place you may want to give this entry some thought..There are so many types of personalities in this world that to group people in little bunches is not really constructive.Everyone is different and there are quirks and biases in personalities which do not mesh with a lot of other people associated with them.Remember, my previous entry about people stealing the most precious thing you got? Well it's true! There are people and or supervisors who mentally drain you and your energy until it's running low by the end of the day and you want to get out of town and run away!!Sound familiar? Let's take a concrete example which could be applicable to a present day scenerio: You are a new employee at a non profit organization and have to learn some new skills.Your supervisor, has his or her own way to show a person how to perform certain tasks associated with your organization. He may be the gung ho high energy type who is always bubbly and happy as he shows you the tricks of the trade: or he could be barking orders left and right and always looking to see if you are doing it right.Always picking and ordering you around and not really involving you directly in the big picture. The whole process is not involved, just bits and bites here and there and you are constantly trying to figure out why certain tasks are missing or why he didn't show you the whole step by step procedure. So you can mentally and visually reproduce these steps in your mind for the next time. The truth is ,this person is only acting in his or her own best interest and using you to perform work he or she may not want to do.In this case, he is really not teaching you and is only abusing you and your time to suit his or her own interests.Sometimes the truth hurts and denial is always a problem with these types of people and to radically change his or her methods means they may have to do a complete overhaul of their personality.A supervisor who doesn't take suggestions or is indifferent with anyone who demonstrates intelligence is a supervisor who is closed minded and dictorial. We have these types in government and they are called dictators and their subjects true potential is being repressed and not brought out in the open. There are a lot of people who are comfortable with this state of existence and to complain about it means possibly changing their lifestyle. People by nature are comfortable doing and saying the wrong things To change is painful for them ,and the mind like I explained previously, takes the path of least resistance and change is a radical push which the mind naturally represses. So a dictorial type of supervisor will feel comfortable being this way until major changes are forced upon him or her. A person could change but it is painful to do so.Being a mentor involves a patient, kind , focused, spiritually motivated person, who is focused on the totality of teaching and who constantly drills the student on what he has taught him or her.So being a mentor, is totally different then being a supervisor.Non profit organizations should hire mentors not supervisors. Why? Well it's possibly because of the company mission statement. It may reflect spiritual values which could value human dignity. So, to have a person who agrees with these values is to have a strong company with people who have similar values which adequately reflects the mission statement!!

Ancient chinese wisdom about teaching says: Tell a person and he will forget: Show a person and he may remember, but involve a person and he will understand There are many supervisors and or trainers that need to take this advice. They are involved in building people's lives so to be not focused on the indidvidual is really not doing justice to him or her, who really is only trying to learn a new skill. The mind takes the path of least resistance and if a person feels pushed or feels that a supervisor is talking too fast and really not showing him or her then there could be a mental block in the trainee and he or she will not learn as fast as he or she would want to.To increase productivity with all trainees, communication is the key. Communication, involves speaking, demonstrating and also involves a written format explaining certain tasks. The power of the written word should never be underestimated. Job tasks could be labeled as job one or job 2 and the whole process written down, step by step. Why is this a good method? Well ,if a supervisor is barking orders left and right it means that the trainee has forgotten a few details here and there. If a superivsor could only realize how the mind works then he or she would see where the mistakes are being made. The mind is comfortable doing one or two tasks all in one sequence or multi-tasking in the short run of sequences, but if the mind is constantly overloaded with instructions then a situation called information overload develops. This is similar to a computer crashing and to rectify the situation you need to re-boot the computer..Do we start all over when working, while many orders are given to you? No we don't! Trainees think it is normal and accept it and a veryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy dangerous situation could develop!!!Supervisors are content with their trainee's robotic work habits and most trainees may never question the status quo because their backs are against the wall and they believe in the saying.Don't bite the hand that feeds you. They feel helpless because of the dictorial aspect of total control being demonstrated to the trainee..They feel that their true potential is not being reached. What supervisors need to learn is that people need to feel a sense of indepedence and to bark orders all the time is making the trainee dependent on the supervisor!!Fishing not eating fish for a day will keep you from being hungry in the long run! So supervisors need to help with the trainee's fishing gear and the modus operandi involved with fishing. To do this,he or she must change his methods which encourages the trainee to work independently.Writing out job tasks and explaining the total operation is one good way to achieve independence.A supervisor may think that there are too many jobs involved to write down and that each job is different, but he or she fails to realize that most jobs are repeated in exactly the same manner as before, and to record them means that the trainee has a written hard copy to take home.He goes home in a relaxed manner reads and visualizes the steps in his mind and the total picture becomes clearer to him because now he can go to work and if the same scenerio comes up he can jump in and perform the whole process without being ordered around!!Some supervisors may think writing down job tasks is not worth the trouble because they are all different and to record them would be too tedious a process. My answer to these supervisors is: Hogwash!

Why do I say this? Well.. let's define what experience is: Experience is doing tasks which has been performed previously. You may not do it right the first time but the next time will get better and the third time it's perfect! What have you achieved? We have gained experience for that particular task!!!! That is nothing to sneer at Mr superivsor! Take heed , and listen to what's around you and you will be amazed as to the universal truths being presented to everyone! Even in areas where you have a lot of expertese there can be universal truths which could help you teach better and trainees learn faster. Mentoring is another world and to elevate to this mental and spiritual status is something which everyone could benefit from! Especially non profit organizations where mission statements are the foundation! Other companies are not usually motivated by good will, they are motivated by the bottom line and to deviate against this doctrine is dangerous for the employee and if too much money is lost or not enough earned then it could cost them their jobs!

So is everybody happy???????Some people are going to resist what I have said here and to those people who do this I will say: Consider others first and realize that you could be changing someone's life to the better because of your elevated state!
Elevate yourselves! Show kindness to others and be patient and show the spirit of friendship to everyone you see.Non profit organizations don't always behave in a spiritual way. They are haunted by the nature of work and they would rather be home having a beer! To be really involved is to be really spiritually involved.Universal truths need to be incorperated in non profit organizations and the spirit of friendship, kindness, patience, the willingness to co-operate, individually focused and caring attention to a trainee, and learning to fish is something which we all could do to demonstrate independence...Anyone who can demonstrate this is showing true leadership and is exactly the type of person I would want if I was a ceo in an organization such as a non profit one.In summation of today's entry about barriers within the workplace:The barriers within the workplace is far more important than the barriers people face when trying to find gainful employment.Chronic unemployment is usally caused by a person not feeling comfortable within the workplace and feels like taking a hike to freedom.Time is money, and it is also freedom, if people feel that their job was somewhat like a prison sentence.Managers and or supervisors should make people comfortable on the job and should not be arrogant and too overpowering to employees. They should be leaders and should show restraint and compassion to people trying to make a living.I see this time and time again. Supervisors and managers hiring their own kind or maybe making things hard for employees and or even other employees not showing spiritual characteristics such as kindess, patience , the spirit of friendship, consideration of the new employee's limited knowledge , and the spirit of co-operation such as being helpful to someone who really is trying to make a living.Such is life!People get too cozy with jobs when they have aquired the experience to do it properly. They dangle the carrot of knowledge when they should be sharing the carrot...Trust me!This happens every day in the workplace and the real real barriers to employment are actually within employment. This is where it starts and to recite the confusing aspect of life such as What came first the chicken or the egg? We can say that barriers to employment are caused by improper attitudes of people trying to impose their quirky biases to job applicants such as:You don't qualify because you may not fit our company culture! This is a being biased and it doesn't end there. You can never prove that people have biased attitudes!Managers may not hire you because you are 55 and they will never ever tell you that that is the actual reason why they didn't hire you!.You can have the most impeccable resume and cover letter but what they think will never be known to you!!The best one can do when obtaining employment is to put your best foot forward.Attitudes are changing, and employers now feel that mature workers 45 and over offer companies better value. They are more unlikly to job hop, are more reliable, have more experience in soft skills and actual work experience. So the mature older worker is indeed a bargain, but the barriers and biased attitudes to how employers see them are still prevelant.Barriers obtaining employment are, ageism, racial, religious, appearances, no recent job experience, etc. It is really hard to get a job today because the employer does not know you and is unwilling to take a chance. In some cases, prefering instead to hire within their inner circle. The hidden job market constitutes around 75 to 80 percent of the jobs that are available. These jobs are usually not advertised and go rather quickly.so a person looking for a job has a better chance to find one if he can network his way there!

Networking effectively can involve talking to your pastor, friends, business owners you know, people you know on the golf course etc...Beleive me this is the most powerful way to get your foot in the door!Barriers are more like challenges and society should really wake up and adopt spiritual values within the workplace and outside the workplace! Is it done? Well....if you are working for a pastor at your church it may be ,but in most cases, people have a lot to learn. It's not because they don't know what respect is, it's because they don't practice it.It's the same thing as saying:People know what love is but do not love!Or they shrug their shoulders, prefering instead to look after numero uno!!!!lol....Remember my sweet friends and readers. You are a human being! No better then the next person!. You have a right to work and also have a right to keep being gainfully employed.Once working,if you adopt spiritual values wihin the workplace you are really a leader and you lead by example!Try it folks! Enjoy work and finding work should be an adventure. If you believe in yourself, nothing can stop you!!!!

So be happy and remember! Love your neighbour and if you can't do that then at least respect him or her!..Love yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

Stay tuned for my next entry from the verifiedbeliever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
