Hello Rock and roll fans everywhere!
Hope you all enjoyed the song rock me baby starring Mick Jagger and the Stones as well as AC/DC guitarists Angus Young and his older brother Malcolm..What a sensational amount of energy directed all at once on stage! This review is meant to shed a bit of enlightenment in the purest sense so we all can assimilate this in our own lives...Notice how confident Angus Young is on stage and his gimmick of wearing shorts on stage..yes my friends we all need some sort of gimmick these days so that the early bird will deliver our worms...on time and in this case in time...for timing in music and everything else for that matter is everything..
I love these little music videos of concerts of famous musicians...one can analyze these things and come up with some profound truths which could help us in our journey in life...In the case of Angus Young his idea of wearing shorts was an idea he had in his younger days when his sister would recommend wearing his school boy outfit when playing guitar...she thought it was kind of cute...well I guess it got him thinking that yes...maybe a gimmick like wearing shorts onstage would really rally the fans in his favor..after all music is all about sending a statement to the masses via image building...and this is what he did...He even copied the original moves of chuck berry by doing his famous knee shuffle exactly how Chuck would do it...The funny thing about artists is that not everyone would play a song the same way every time...so now if we look at Ron Wood from the Stones pairing with Angus Young we notice that he did a different version of the berry shuffle and made it his own...He looked really cool with his improvised skip to my Lou shuffle as he pranced on stage with Angus..Take a look and you will see what I mean!
Now we have another observation we can take home to the bank and that is the theme of timing is everything and you better be focused to what's around you or you will miss the timing boat...Take a look at Mick Jagger the Master singer song writer...who skillfully directs the band to musical nirvana by actually making two endings to this classic rock and roll song..His hand goes up when approaching the first ending and yes everyone thought it was the end of the song...He even leaves the stage and doesn't come back for awhile..Even Ron Wood thought it was the end when he puts his arm around Malcolm Young's shoulder..like a visual way of saying...'Good god I had a terrific time playing with you...my good old boy'! Well...as the drummer Charlie Watts plays his patented drum roll and lays his final beat down, along comes Mick with renewed energy for more as he strolls back on stage...singing another verse...as he brings his hand up again for a second time everyone now knows that this is the Second ending..as he sings.." Like my back... pauses...then at that crucial moment Keith Richards puts his arm around Mick's shoulder and by doing this it catches him off guard as He sings "Like my back" a second time...and he actually misses the crucial timing of the lead...by a second...Angus Young of AC/DC the virtuoso master of lead guitar wasn't thrown off by Keith's miscue and plays the response to Mick's ending with beauty and grace not once missing the beat..Amazing isn't it? Two endings to a song?...Only Mick Jagger could ever pull that off and make it sound amazing!...
Well upon further inspection of the classic song Rock me Baby we notice the power of rock and roll and how many of today's musicians are actually addicted to it... I call this something else even though many academics of today may call playing music an addiction...but the music in itself is not the potent source...it is the energy that comes from producing it that makes everyone dance around on stage with that obsessed and possesed look on their faces...Take a look at Malcom Young from AC/DC as he is paired with Keith Richards of the Stones....Take a look at his face...it looks like he is addicted to something as he nods his head...while playing with Keith..and each musician feeds off each other even more...the actual band members also give off their own unique energy..If you look at the song as it is being played you will notice these pairings quite frequently....but as I now reflect on the truth of this video I am amazed to learn that playing music especially old time rock and roll can evoke a sense of power and all musicians crave and seek this.. ..because it elevates them to musical nirvana, and dam it...it really feels good! So to call this an addiction is a bit inaccurate...what it really is...is a Magnificent Obsession!....experiencing a magnificent obsession is a better alternative than drugs, alcohol or cigarettes...one can have nirvana based endorphin dopamine highs when focused with a magnificent obsession..and the result is that there are no side effects and no withdrawal periods or after effects...because no musician wants to quit playing music anyway...so the beat goes on and everyone rocks on!....
One can really relate to the rolling stones because of the energy they show on stage...when the music is good the energy rebounds to each band member and the musical magnificent obsession continues..It's amazing how they have managed to stay together for over 50 years...all because of this common interest of sharing their own brand of energy with each other...their fans see this and that's why they have lasted so long...the fans dictate when it's time to go to pasture...and I can imagine them playing together even in their middle 70's!...
So there you have it folks!...if you have a drug habit you want to get rid of just replace it with one beautiful magnificent obsession and you will not regret it...your life will change for the better!!!!..
Stay tuned for my next entry of the verifiedbeliever!...and rock on brothers and sisters! Love ya!
