In a fitting tribute to the soul I think it would be appropriate to discuss Truth and what it means to people. My individual perception of this concept will hopefully ring a bell or two so hold on to your hats and hopefully it will be smooth sailing...
Truth to me is like a universal deep perception which rings true to a power higher than us..It's like the sun which is always there but at times not always visible to the naked eye...How can we know or find truth? Well truth can be found if you look for it and when you have an open mind to whats universally viable and true...One can forcibly extract it like the Nazis and Americans did in world war 11 in the form of truth serums...Even though they are not permitted as evidence in a court of law they do serve the purpose of finding out what direction to pursue...Polygraph tests also extract truth from a person via a machine which measures anxiety levels when asked a question...from this they can judge reasonably well if a person is telling the truth or lying...They are accurate 8 times out of ten so if you are a body language expert you would probably do a lot better if you examine your husband's shifty eyes when you ask him why he came home at 4 in the morning!!!..Yea the truth will set you free and most people would agree to that but very few people will subscribe to acting on it....Yea there is truth in love your neighbor as yourself...but very few neighbors actually talk to each other....It seems the bigger the fence the bigger the wall between them...Sadly, people will respect you only when you die and will even cry at your funeral even though they haven't talked to you for ages...My ex wife's father passed away 12 years ago and she told me that her father's sister cried at his funeral...After talking a bit more about it...The sister had a grudge and did not make peace with her brother...the truth of the matter is that people know about forgiveness but when the months turn to years life will do a number on them and they suddenly find themselves lying in a funeral home...Dying peacefully and forgiving everyone should be in everyone mind but time is a great healer and also will wait for no-one either....So the truth behind the saying...Timing is everything should be noted and recorded in one's mind...
In examining truth a bit deeper we can come to the conclusion that people at times are very comfortable doing and saying the wrong things... If you constantly nag at your spouse you will be an expert at nagging and once you get into that habit the mind begins to become very familiar with the concept of nagging...The mind takes the path of least resistance and to change a bad habit means that one has to go on an unfamiliar path which the mind finds difficult do...Why? Well the mind is comfortable with the familiar! To suddenly be nice, encouraging and exciting is painful and not natural. It's more familiar and comfortable to nag...But alas! We have the spirit of determination to change in us if only we can see the truth shining and rising from the East...
To quit smoking is a drag (no pun intended) and it is stressful because of the change being introduced...The smoker's internal dialogue goes something like this: We rationalize our need to smoke now...Good god! Are you kidding it really relaxes me!? It goes well with my coffee! It's great to have a cigarette after a nice tumble with my girl friend!It's an excuse to have a break and have a smoke. I'm young now and have a lot of time left so now I'm going to smoke up a storm and enjoy it! It looks so cool with a cigarette in one's mouth...Wow look at James Dean with that cool leather jacket and the cigarette dangling from his mouth! Hey he's even on a motorcycle! Good god could it be a Harley?....You can't get any cooler then that! Can you?
Hey I'm going to die anyway might as well enjoy it and go along with the ride....If I quit now all my smoking friends will wonder where I've been... Misery won't like my company anymore... The Truth is Ex smokers usually don't want to have smoke blown in their face! ...Do they? These above inner rationalizations are not the truth are they? They are distortions of the truth !It's like walking in quick sand thinking you are going for a swim!!!! We all know that tobacco smoking causes the Big C! Statistically speaking we loose 9 years from our life span by smoking 1 to 2 packs a day....Sad but true people continue smoking and continue distorting the truth so they can have solid reasons to continue....Need I go on with excessive alcohol consumption and narcotics?
Obesity is a health problem and to deny that is not admitting to the truth of it...It's the reaction to obesity in society which distorts the truth until biases run rampant and discrimination is a subtle but true constant..I may be tipping the scales a bit and the truth of the matter is that I know this...A person does not have to admonish lecture or prejudge me...Do they? The bell of truth rings loud and clear dear sir and madame...Tell me something I don't know rather then something I do know!...The actual truth behind the matter is this: Hey I could be happy as an obese person...There are many jolly obese men and woman walking the face of this earth... In contrast there are many slim good looking people who are miserable and are on the verge of suicide...Here's another truth or maxim: Life is 95 percent how you react to it! A lot of people have heard this saying but very few react the right way in a given situation...Or I can actually be working on my problem of obesity because I have now seen the light and will not stop for no-one until my weight goals are reached....Once I firmly believe in a truth or perception it can be manifested to reality and the only thing stopping me is me...
There are a lot of people who like to hide the truth...Thinking that people will ignore the fact that they just turned 50...Men will dye their hair, wear a toupee , or get a stomach vest which will tuck in that terrible pot...Why? Well to fit in society better that's why!? They may want to be more attractive so they can have their second wind and discover their long lost youth again....Maybe an affair with that 30 yr old secretary? Women wear makeup, wigs and fancy perfume to hide the fact that if they did not they would smell like men after a neighborhood football game...They are terrified of this and the stronger the perfume the better....Here's another denial when it comes to truth....A Woman never tells her age? Is she afraid of getting old? What gives with that? I guess we can forgive women for that mild indiscretion
...We will assume she ages gracefully and is like fine vintage wine...The older the better....Haha!
Society and Hollywood seem to be in la-la land when it comes to the truth...They want that glamorous female look with all the right curves and it would be nice if they were well endowed....not too much but just enough so that people will relish over them and make them sex goddesses and queens so they can make the studios mega bucks at the box office!...An obese plain Jane or plain John would not get the glamorous part or the lead role and may not even get the job in most cases...Whether it's in the cinema or in the corporate world image is what society demands...The truth a picture is worth a 1000 words validates the theory that beauty and being sexy brings in more bucks then brains...Sex is in your glorious faces and is left right and center and it is what sells in all media ratings...The realistic truth of today is: Money is king not your beautiful soul which people cannot see. People will go to the supermarket and discard 12 tomatoes before they settle on the right one! Each discarded tomato has the same amount of nutritional healthy lycopene and even if it's slightly bruised or not as even as the one you finally picked it still looks good on that cheese and tomato sandwich....Try it!
Yeaaaaaaaa life is a big learning experience for me ...I call it life 101 and when I got married I thought it would last forever...My main reason for marrying was for beauty...She was a humdinger but very quiet..Wow I thought I struck it rich marrying an old fashioned Italian girl with the word beauty stamped all over her body...I did not know what an inner soul was and all I knew was a young man's fancy went to the wrong place specifically somewhere where the sun don't shine!There is no truth in that right? I laugh about it now because a sense of humor is a spiritual quality and I believe it represents the truth in dealing with the stress of a failed marriage.It was difficult escaping without any guilt feelings but with 2 little boys to take care of it was really easy to overstay one's welcome...My inner truth was that I could not stay in a loveless marriage and since I was a Simon and Garfunkel fan of many years I took the courage to leave her after listening to that intensely truthful song called.....50 ways to leave your lover...I took a few spins around the block as I listened to the tune on my car's tape deck and must of listened to it err......Let me see...50 times! ....before I had the nerve to walk in the house and drop off the key... just like the song!....So music and lyrics represent truth to me because it gave me the courage to act ...We are now both happier because of it!
The truth is in the pudding as they say?! Well I'm not an expert baker but I have a thing for rice pudding so to take the saying literally will only make me fatter...hehe So what pudding are they talking about anyway? Well let's take an example: According to The Apostles and witnesses of the era the fact that a man called Jesus could perform miracles such as walk on water, bringing the dead back to life, curing the local leper, giving sight to a blind man and then culminates all this in his own ressurection on the third day...is quite remarkable! I know what you are all going to ask! But is it all true? Well let's put it this way there are people in this world who do not believe all this and what they say is what a lot of people are and were saying...I will believe it when I see it! From this group emerges the non believers...So why do the believers believe it? Well the people who believed it were actually there when it all happened but in this modern age there are people who believe and they constitute the believers...They believe in the truth of the saying: I will see it when I believe it! They are blessed with faith and actually do see the truth in the deepest part of their soul!
Another saying in the bible is what Christ said: If ye would have faith like a small grain of mustard seed you can say to your mountain move and will move and will cast itself on to the oceon! Is this truth? Well it's called made to order truth and it will show itself as true in the deepest part of your soul if only you would believe..Is faith powerful? Is it the modern day magic wand? Well I'm no religous expert but it sure blows my mind better then the weekday soap operas! Let's hope we shall all believe... If you are on your death bed and don't believe it happened then maybe the truth will never be revealed to you!...But if you had absolute faith on your death bed then the truth would indeed be revealed to you even before you pass on...but would be glorified and validated more elegantly after one's death...So let's suffice it to say that faith is absolute truth and has magical and mystical qualities! So what do I think? Well take a look at my name "Verifiedbeliever!!!!"
As we sum up my little story of what truth means to me I get flash backs of my dad telling me to think twice but cut once...He was the king of handymen and god rest his soul was a powerhouse when he gave me advice...Yea the truth Cut once think twice rings loudly in my head...One can apply this visualization strategy quite strongly if you can imagine this: You are at a table saw cutting wood for your favorite project and suddenly a young curvy vivacious blond suddenly heads your way...As you sadly look toward her you shockingly see your blood spattered hand fall tragically to the floor! What is the underlying truth here? If you don't understand what I'm talking about then you must believe in re-incarnation! Why is that you say! Well it means that you will have to repeat life 101 all over again!!! Next time around don't forget the apple!!!!
